The Kirn glider airfield is nicknamed Meckenbacher Höhe and is located four kilometers southeast of the town of Meckenbach in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate .
Place data
The place is approved for gliders , self- launching motor gliders and aircraft that are approved for the purpose of towing gliders or motor gliders. In addition, controlled UL's aerodynamically admitted. It is possible to start the winch.
Grass runway in the direction of 140 ° / 320 ° (600 m) in the extension there is a glider take-off or winch place behind the hollow (field) so a rope length of approx. 1200 m is possible. There is also a grass runway in an orientation of 280 ° (250 m).
The site can only be reached via paved dirt roads.
Operating times
The glider airfield has no fixed operating hours. Flight operations take place between April and October on weekends if the weather is good. The club canteen opens during flight operations.
Every year at the beginning of September, the Quetschekuchenfest takes place on the airfield.
