The Utscheid glider airfield is located in the southern Eifel on a hill west of the Utscheid municipality in the Rhineland-Palatinate Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm and is home to the southern Eifel glider club.
history
The association was founded in 1973 in Ernzen and was initially based there. Due to the unfavorable conditions for soaring , including approach over the edge of a quarry with partly strong leeward vortices , the area in Utscheid, 23 kilometers away, was opened up. The powered aircraft stayed in Ernzen. Today there is a microlight flight club based there.

Place data
The place is approved for gliders , self- launching motor gliders and aircraft that are approved for the purpose of towing gliders or motor gliders. The motorized flight movements are quota due to the noise protection.
