Segheneytī ( Tigrinya ሰገነይቲ or ሠገነይቲ, Arabic سخناتي; sometimes anglicized as segheneity . also known as Saganeiti , Seganeiti , Seganeyti , Segeleyti , Segeneyti , Segeeni , Segheneiti ) is a small town in southern Eritrea . It's in Debub Province .
geography
It is located about 40 km southeast of the capital Asmara and over 2,188 meters above sea level. The city is on the road between Asmara and Senafe .
population
According to a census in 2005, the population was 5,656. In 1984 there were 3,328 inhabitants.
religion
The city is the seat of the Eparchy Segheneity as part of the Eritrean Catholic Churches , the city's cathedral is dedicated to the Archangel Saint Michael . The diocese was founded in 2012.
Trivia
A growing near Segheneytī plane is on the 5- Nakfa displayed -Schein. The shade of the tree has been known as a place for poetry readings for centuries.
