The sailing club Leipzig Süd-West e. V. is a non-profit association . It developed through several transformations from various older associations up to the re-establishment in 1990.

timeline

In 1946, one year after the end of the Second World War , the first regatta of the “Fichte” sports community took place on October 1st on the Elster reservoir . In the same year "was created Sports Association (BSG) Construction South West, section Sailing " (BSG ASW) on the Magpie dam as the successor of the sports community, "spruce".

In 1950 the expansion of the port began at the Elster reservoir, and the sailing home was built. In 1951 the company sports association Polygraph , sailing section (BSG Polygraph) was formed and it was classified as a guest BSG at S ASW am Elsterstausee. In 1974 the first EXPOVITA regatta was held at the Elster reservoir.

As a result of the temporary drainage of the Elsterstausee, some of the BSG members moved to the east bank of the Kulkwitzer See in 1977 . In 1979, after only two years, another move was due, now from the east bank to the west bank of the Kulkwitzer See. At the same time, the construction of the port facility and the sailors' home including the objects for the children and youth area began.

In 1983 sailing operations on the Elster reservoir were resumed. In 1988 the BSG Stahl Süd-West was integrated as a guest BSG on Kulkwitzer See.

In the course of reunification, the Association Act was passed in 1990, which enabled company sports associations to register as registered associations and thus made them independent of state companies.

Within the statutory period of six months, the BSG ASW and the BSG Polygraph merged on July 1, 1990 and changed the name to “Seglerverein Leipzig Süd-West e. V. ". In 1992 the sailors of the "BSG Stahl Süd-West" also came to the club.

On the occasion of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary on October 1, 1996, the association was presented with an anniversary certificate from the German Sailing Association.

In the years 1999/2000 the port facility on the Cospudener See was built as a joint facility with the “Leipziger Seesportclub e. V. “.
