Segundo Alejandro Castillo Nazareno (born May 15, 1982 in San Lorenzo , Esmeraldas Province ) is an Ecuadorian football player .
Club soccer
Castillo began his first division career at CD Espoli , the association of the national police school of Ecuador. Here he made his first division debut in 2000 and was already a regular in midfield in his second year at the age of 19. After he had scored 9 goals in 2002, the top club CD El Nacional from Quito signed him for the 2003 season. In 2005 he won the Clausura championship there (2005 there was one championship title per half of the season in Ecuador). At the end of August 2006 he moved to Red Star Belgrade in Serbia . For the 2008/09 season he was awarded for a year in the Premier League for Everton . After he had been in the starting line-up there, he was less and less taken into account in the starting line-up and squad after changing the game system.
On August 31, 2009 Castillo returned to the top English league to complete another season on loan - at the side of his former Belgrade teammate Nenad Milijaš - when promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers . In the summer of 2010 he went back to his home country to join Deportivo Quito .
For the 2011/12 season he moved to Mexico to CF Pachuca . In January 2013 he went to Puebla FC .
National team
Segundo Castillo, who has also played in his country's U20 team, earned his appointment to the Ecuadorian national football team thanks to his convincing performance this season . On August 17, 2005 he played for the first time and was also considered one of the best players on the team in the preparatory games for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Therefore, he was not only nominated for the World Cup squad in Ecuador , but was even in the first team there. He also took part in the 2007 Copa America tournament.
