Sejerø is a Danish island in the Kattegat off Zealand , north of Kalundborg . 342 permanent residents live on the 12.37 km² island (January 1, 2020). The ferry port is Sejerby in the middle of the island. The island can be reached by ferry from Havnsø in Zealand; the crossing takes an hour.

The island forms its own parish ( Danish : Sogn ) Sejerø Sogn , which until 1970 belonged to Harde Skippinge Herred in what was then Holbæk Amt , then to Bjergsted Kommune in what was then Vestsjællands Amt , which became part of Kalundborg as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 Municipality in the Sjælland region.

Sejerø belongs to the Association of Danish Small Islands .

The island is divided into the following areas:

  • Holmen (bebyggelse)
  • Kongstrup (bebyggelse, ejerlav)
  • Lydebjerg (bebyggelse)
  • Mastrup (bebyggelse, ejerlav)
  • Nordby (bebyggelse)
  • Sejerby (bebyggelse, ejerlav)
  • Sejerø (areal)
  • Skagelse Huk (areal)
  • Snerpe (bebyggelse)
  • Sønderby (bebyggelse)
  • Tadebæk (bebyggelse)
  • Vandkær (bebyggelse)

There is hardly any fresh water and no ancient forest on the island. Flint finds , two building stones , a Langdysse ( Langdysse von Mastrup ) and eight preserved burial mounds indicate that the island was settled early. Borrebjerg was then flattened (20 m) and provided with ramps. The finds made here consist of animal bones, spearheads and ceramic shards . The nearby Bybjerg (26 m) was a similar facility.
