Selex RAT 31DL

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The RAT 31DL is a long-range air surveillance radar from the manufacturer SELEX Sistemi Integrati . The radar device is available in several versions: the fixed version RAT 31 DL / FADR (Fixed Air Defense Radar), which is already in use in a number of NATO, European and other countries in a relocatable or stationary version.

description

The compact mobile RAT 31 DL / M D-band radar version was developed from the stationary FADR version. The RAT-31 DL / M consists of a foldable antenna and a device shelter, both of which are housed in 20 foot ISO containers, which u. a. are air transportable with the A400M . This configuration allows quick installation and high mobility without having to resort to external lifting equipment and thus also allows deployment in an unprepared position. The abbreviation RAT stands for Radar Avvistamento Terrestre , an Italian term for "ground-based reconnaissance radar ". The letters DL / M mean D-Band , Long range and Moveable .

The radar device with an active phased-array monopulse antenna built entirely in semiconductor technology with an antenna area of 77 m² (11 · 7 m) works with 42 rows of 52 dipoles each and 42 transmitter / receiver modules with 2 kW transmission power each. The 360 ° all-round search is carried out with four independent beams in the D-band at 6 revolutions per minute, the vertical pivoting of the beams is done by means of electronic phase shifting of the feed of the 42 rows of lamps. The device is able to pick up and accompany targets up to a distance of 450 km and up to 30 km altitude and indicates distance, direction and altitude ( 3D radar ). An integrated secondary radar with a large vertical aperture antenna on top of the primary radar antenna has a range of up to 450 km.

distribution

The operational user of two relocatable systems in Germany is the Air Force's operations command service . Other Luftwaffe radars are HADR (radar) , GM 406F and RRP 117 .

The Austrian military airspace surveillance , called Goldhaube , is also a user of three RAT 31DL radar sensors.

In October 2015 Poland received three RAT 31DL as part of the NATO Security Information Program (NSIP) on behalf of the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI-Agency), which are deployed in Chruściel near Braniewo , Łabunie and Szypliszki . Poland has also been using three long-range radar systems NUR-12M (RST-12M) from the Polish manufacturer PIT Radwar since 2007.
