HADR (radar)
The HR-3000 radar device from the Hughes company used in NATO is named as HADR . The letters are short for Hughes Air Defense Radar . It is a 3D radar for use in an air defense network. The operational user in Germany is the Luftwaffe's operations command service . Other Luftwaffe radars are Medium Power Radar (until 2015), RRP 117 , GM 406F and RAT 31DL .
Technical specifications
This radar device was created from a ship radar . The range was achieved, for example, by connecting a further power amplifier ( Amplitron ) behind the existing power amplifier ( traveling wave tube ), which thus became a preamplifier. The Amplitron is switched off at close range and for high altitudes and the HADR only works with the traveling wave tube.
The antenna with the dimensions of 4.8 × 6 m is a passive serially fed phased array antenna , which consists of horizontal waveguide slot antennas . Slots are cut into the shorter side of the waveguide at a distance of about half the wavelength . A frequency change is complicated by the serial supply. Because the phase relationships between the individual slot antennas are frequency-dependent, the antenna will squint a little when the frequency changes. This error must be compensated for by the software.
The antenna systems are located under radomes with a diameter of approx. 12 m in order to minimize weather influences.

Norway has another three devices, Malaysia one. A version of the HR-3000 is distributed under the name RSRP ( Radars for the Southern Region and Portugal ) in the Mediterranean region (Turkey, Greece, Italy and Portugal). The devices used in Portugal are installed in Foia, Montejunto and Pilar.
