Selim Hassan ( Arabic سليم حسن, DMG Salīm Ḥasan ; * April 15, 1887 in Mit-Nagi; † September 30, 1961 in Giza ) was an Egyptian Egyptologist .

Selim Hassan first studied at the teacher training institute in Cairo with Ahmed Kamal, among others, and has been a teacher since 1912. In 1921 he became a curator at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, from 1923 to 1927 he studied at the École pratique des hautes études in Paris and then from 1928 to 1936 he was the first Egyptian to teach as a professor of Egyptology at the University of Cairo . In 1935 he received his doctorate from the University of Vienna . From 1936 to 1939 he was deputy director of the Egyptian antiquities administration .

Since 1929 he has been digging in Giza with Hermann Junker . He later led his own excavations in Gizeh and Sakkara until 1939 and excavated the so-called Central Field in Giza. He was the author of numerous monographs , including ten volumes on the excavation results of Giza.
