Doson and the Achaean League on the one hand and the Spartans under King Cleomenes III. on the other hand beaten. After that, Sellasia was again destroyed and the population sold as slaves. In the 2nd century at the time of Pausanias the city was already deserted.

History of the modern church

From 1912 until the church reform in 1997 , Sellasia was an independent rural church. Initially referred to as Vroulia, the place and the rural community were given the name of the ancient settlement in 1929. In 1997 Sellasia was merged with eight other rural communities to form Inoundas municipality , with Sellasia as the administrative seat. After the administrative reform in 2011, this congregation was merged with another six congregations in the new congregation of Sparta . Since then, Sellasia has had the status of a local community ( Topiki Kinotita Τοπική Κοινότητα).
