Seminal Embalmment is an Australian death metal band from Adelaide , which was founded in 2005 under the name Five Finger Disintegrator .

history

The band was formed in 2005 by guitarist Luke Mottillo and drummer Kieran Murray. At first it had two singers and in 2007 the line-up was expanded to a total of six members. Several demos were made during the constitutional phase . By 2009 the line-up had shrunk to a trio. After the group signed a record deal with the Brisbane label Infinite Regress Records , they changed their name to Seminal Embalmment. In 2013 the EP Stacked and Sodomized was released by New Standard Elite Records . The self-titled debut album followed with the same label in 2017.

style

Brian Giffin found in his Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal that it was still a technical death metal band under the name Five Finger Disintegrator , before the name changed to brutal death metal . Johannes Schmailzl from gutturaldeath.wordpress.com wrote in his review of Stacked and Sodomized that Brutal Death Metal can be heard, reminiscent of the music of Inherit Disease . He was particularly impressed by the sound of the drums, while the bass was barely audible. The singing is guttural , but not as deep as it is typical for the genre. The riffs are original, technically demanding and groovy , but some are very similar. The group tries on a songwriting in the style of Cannibal Corpse . In summary, Schmailzl stated that the group succeeds in shaking the throne of Disentomb , which he considers the best Australian brutal death metal band. Islander from nocleansinging.com assigned Seminal Embalmment to Brutal Death Metal as well. He also noted that the vocals on the previous EP sounded atypical; he found it inappropriate. Mottillo's fast, original and aggressive riffs, which are played passionately and precisely, are characteristic of the album. Playing the drums is also intense and precise. The bass is easy to hear and the vocals are now better suited to the songs and he now has a certain aggressiveness that he didn't have on the EP.
