Vegetative characteristics

Sempervivum annae grows as a rosette plant with a diameter of 3 to 4 centimeters (rarely up to 5 centimeters). Your light brown, thick ones. dense and long downy-haired runners are 10 to 20 inches long. The lanceolate, gradually pointed, long glandular, downy-haired leaves are quite pale green with a purple tip. The leaf blade is 20 to 25 millimeters long and 4 to 5 millimeters wide.

Generative characteristics

The long glandular, downy-haired flowering shoot reaches a length of 15 to 30 centimeters (rarely up to 40 centimeters). It bears lanceolate, almost stem-encompassing, up to 13 millimeters long and about 5 millimeters wide leaves. The inflorescence is 15 to 30 flowers (rarely up to 40 flowers). The 11 to 12-fold (rarely 13-fold) flowers have a diameter of 1.8 to 2 centimeters and are on unequal flower stalks . Your lanceolate, pointed sepals are about 4 millimeters long and 1 millimeter wide. On their back they are densely glandular and downy, while the inside is almost bald. The light pink petals have a purple central stripe and white edges. Near the tips they are absent-mindedly glandular and downy. The purple stamens are white at their tips, the anthers orange purple and Nektarschüppchen linear.

Systematics and distribution

Sempervivum annae is widespread in Georgia in the Eastern and Central Caucasus in the subalpine zone on rocks in pine-covered meadows.

The first description by Ms. MZ Gurgenidze , a Georgian botanist in Tbilisi, was published in 1969. The species name annae honors a botanical researcher of the Caucasus in the 20th century, Mrs. Anna S. Schchia.
