Localization of Lower Austria in Austria

The Anninger transmitter , also known as the Vierjochkogel radio link , is a transmitter on the Anninger , on the eastern edge of the Vienna Woods, and can be seen from afar in the Vienna Basin . It is in the parish of Gaaden .

The transmitter that exists today has existed since 1956 and is a directional radio station of A1 Telekom Austria . The exact location is the Vierjochkogel on the Great Anninger at an altitude of 650  m above sea level. A. The transmitter itself is a tall steel framework. Power is supplied via an overhead line that runs from the east to the Anninger.

The station can be reached via a non-public paved road from the nearby Anningerhaus . There were two smaller Wehrmacht transmitters at the location of today's transmitter during the Second World War . These were air force radio transmitters.

Outside the area that is fenced off today, there are still remains of the wall, which presumably came from a water tank.

The transmitter is 17.5 km from the Arsenal telecommunications tower in Vienna. The transmitter covers the southern stretch of Telekom's directional radio network. Until the transmitter on Exelberg was built in 1978, the western route over the Anninger was also continued to the Jauerling transmitter .

In addition to the directional radio transmission systems, transmitters for analog fire service radio in Lower Austria are also placed on the system, which enables better connections in the Vienna Woods.
