The transmitter Hosingen is a transmitter of the Broadcasting Center Europe, a subsidiary of the RTL Group for FM . The transmitter system consists of a 300 meter high tubular steel mast with a 2 meter diameter. It is the tallest structure in Luxembourg .

history

From 1962 to 1970 the transmitter was in Marnach . On January 17, 1969, the transmitter mast there fell over. Therefore, in 1970, a new FM transmitter was put into operation in Hosingen .

Before the switch to DVB-T, there was also an analog TV station in operation in Hosingen, which broadcast the Dutch program RTL 5 .

construction

The main transmitters are two Telefunken S 3217 FM transmitters, each with an output power of 10 kilowatts. Two Telefunken S 3152s with an output power of 10 kilowatts each are installed as reserve transmitters.

The transmitting antennas for VHF are located at a height of 237 meters (92.5 MHz) and a height of 285 meters (97.0 MHz) on the transmitter mast .

In the case of directed radiation, the main radiation directions are given in degrees in the antenna diagram. The transmitter on 97 MHz is used to broadcast the German RTL program, which was particularly popular in the 1970s.
