Polatlı transmitter

The Polatlı station was the strongest radio station in Turkey. It was located near Polatlı and worked on the frequency 180 kHz with a transmission power of 1000 kW. An omnidirectional antenna with a 250-meter-high, guyed steel truss mast was used as the transmitting antenna.

Despite the high transmission power, reception in Germany was difficult because the signals from Europe 1 at 183 kHz and from Germany radio at 177 kHz covered the signal. Due to austerity measures on the part of the TRT, all long-wave transmitters in Turkey were switched off in 2008. The long-wave transmitter in Polatlı was also affected.
