The transmitter Portofino is a facility of the Radiotelevisione Italiana for the distribution of television and radio programs in the FM and medium wave range near Portofino Vetta , metropolitan city of Genoa , Italy .

Particularly noteworthy about this system is the medium-wave transmitter operated at 1575 kHz with 50 kW, which can also be received in Germany at night, because it uses a vertical wire as a transmitting antenna that is suspended from a rope, which is between the 130 meter high transmission tower for VHF and TV and a building 590 meters away on the other side of the valley.

The radio station Portofino is likely to be the only radio station in Europe that uses a rope stretched over a valley as part of the system. In addition to the main transmission tower, there is a second free-standing steel lattice tower with a triangular cross-section.
