The Sensor Dynamics AG was an Austrian semiconductor company, which specialized in sensor solutions for automotive, industrial and high-end consumer market. SensorDynamics developed and sold customer-specific products and standard products for applications in the field of vehicle stabilization , occupant protection, navigation systems, keyless go systems and autonomous wireless and battery-free energy generators. In addition to the company headquarters at Eybesfeld Castle near Lebring near Graz , SensorDynamics was represented with its own branches in Italy and Germany as well as a worldwide sales network. In July 2011 the company had around 130 employees. It was purchased in 2011 by Maxim Integrated , a semiconductor company based in San Jose , California for $ 164 million.

Company history

SensorDynamics AG was founded in 2003 by Herbert Gartner, Hubertus Christ, Jürgen Tittel and Volker Kempe and financed by venture capitalists through four equity rounds in 2004, 2007, 2009 and 2011. In 2005 Tornado Insider selected SensorDynamics as one of the top 100 European high-tech companies. The company cooperated closely with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft , especially with the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology in Itzehoe . In October 2007 SensorDynamics started a cooperation with the US semiconductor specialist Kionix . In August 2008, announced EnOcean and SensorDynamics the world's first launch of a micro-energy harvesting - system on a chip . In March 2009 SensorDynamics announced the first microsystem rotation rate sensors (gyros) for the automation and high-end consumer goods industries. In 2009 Chipworks selected a SensorDynamics product as the most innovative product of the year. In December 2010, SensorDynamics reported on the world's first fully characterized and specified inertial sensor with six degrees of freedom (6 × 6 × 1.2 mm-6DoF). In July 2011, the company was acquired by Maxim Integrated Products for $ 164 million.
