Sentinel Beast is an American thrash metal band from Sacramento , California that was formed in 1984, split again in 1987, and reunited in 2007.

history

The band was formed in 1984 by Debbie Gunn (vocals), Michael Spencer (bass guitar) and Scott Awes (drums). The electric guitars were occupied by Greg Williams and Jerry Fraiser, who were later replaced by Barry Fischel and Mark Koyasako. In the same year the band released their first demo called Kill the Witch . The following year the band released two more demos with Depths of Death and Demo 3 . Then Kerry King ( Slayer ) and Kenny Powell ( Omen ) discovered the band. This enabled the band to record their debut album Depths of Death in 1986 and release it in the same year on Metal Blade Records (USA) and Roadrunner Records ( Netherlands ). The band opened concerts for other bands like Slayer, Exodus , Megadeth , Mercyful Fate , King Diamond and Motörhead . The band broke up when Michael Spencer left the band in 1987. Spencer stepped Flotsam and Jetsam in to Jason Newsted to replace, which is now in Metallica played. Debbie Gunn joined Znöwhite a short time later .

In 2007 the band was re-formed, with original singer Debbie Gunn. In 2008 the band held their first tour of Europe and opened concerts for the band Omen. After some changes in the line-up, the band now consisted of Debbie Gunn, guitarists Dana Lindstrom and Ken Korpi, bassist Steve Oliver and drummer Mark Varian. In 2011, Lindstrom were replaced by guitarist Jake Nunn.

style

The band plays classic thrash metal from the 1980s. Singer Gunn's singing, which is quite deep for a woman, is particularly characteristic.
