Live and act

Katerina Zlatníková, born in Prague, attracted attention very early on because of her musical talent. At the age of five she was accepted into the Jan Kühn's children's choir and soon took part in concerts and opera performances (including Rafael Kubelík : "Veronika", A. Dvořák : "Jakobiner", Kovarovic: "Grandmother", further e.g. Carmen , Queen of Spades , La Bohème ). At the age of 9 she began to learn to play the piano. After graduating from high school (at the age of 16), she started her studies at the Prague Conservatory in the subjects of cymbal (with Albert Pek), recorder (with Jaroslav Horák), guitar (with Stepan Urban) and piano . She graduated with honors. In 1960 she won first prize in the cymbals at the interpretation competition of the music academies in Brno.

The popular cymbal became her favorite instrument, she used it as a concert instrument. Through her mother she got to know the Prague composers and performed at their (and other) exhibitions. Alois Hába was the first to write the Suite op. 91 for solo cymbal for her in 1960 (after her mother had portrayed him). He was followed by Václav Kucera, Jan Kapr , Sláva Vorlová and others. 1964–1967 she attended courses in early music in Cologne (with Hans-Martin Linde) and from 1967 courses in new music in Darmstadt , where she was able to win over other composers for her instrument.

Katerina Zlatníková developed into a versatile interpreter of old and new music, worked with well-known ensembles, theater and symphony orchestras and participated in concerts, radio and recordings. She was a co-founder of the Prague ensemble “Recorder Quartet”, member of the Laterna Magica , Prague madrigalists, Musica viva Pragensis.

In 1970 she moved to Stuttgart . Since then she has continued to make music with numerous groups and major orchestras throughout Europe ( Berlin Philharmonic , Vienna Philharmonic , Vienna Symphony, Ensemble Kontrapunkte Vienna, Scala Milan , RAI Roma, Venice, BRT Brussels, Orchester de Paris, opera and radio orchestras in Stuttgart, Heidelberg, Wiesbaden, Oldenburg, Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne). In February 2005 she even played with the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra / Hanover NH USA, in Zoltán Kodály Háry János Suite , conducted by Antonio Princiotti.

The sound and expressive possibilities that Katerina Zlatníková was able to derive from the cymbal inspired composers to write works especially for her (over 80 compositions). She regularly performed these new compositions with great commitment in her solo and chamber music concerts, radio and television appearances. She received a lot of recognition from the public and press at home and abroad for her artistic achievement.

As a virtuoso recorder player, Katerina Zlatníková had initiated, organized and played numerous chamber music concerts herself in Prague. In Stuttgart she was heard as a partner of Igor Oistrach in Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerts , with Gerhard Braun and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. 1972–1982 she played with Willy Freivogel (flute), from 1984 with Stephan Zilka (flute) as a duo. From 1988 she performed with the violin virtuoso Jenny Abel, and from 1997 with the Hungarian pianist Tibor Dimeth. Other duo programs also include harp and recitation .

She began teaching the guitar in Prague and continued it from 1970–75 at the Stuttgart Music School, and from 1975 to 2004 at the SMTT Sindelfingen in the subjects of guitar , dulcimer , piano , keyboard and recorder .

In 1991 she became a founding member of the "Cimbalom World Association" in Budapest, the aim of which is to promote the most varied types of playing in the cymbal family of instruments - santur , yangqin , dulcimer , dulcimer , salterio - and to spread news about members and scores worldwide, Organize concerts, congresses and festivals. Katerina Zlatníková took part in many of the congresses (1991 in Pécz, 1993 in Brno, 1995 in Bratislava, 2001 in Lvov - Lemberg, Ukraine, 2003 in Appenzell, Switzerland, 2005 in Beijing, China, 2007 in Oberammergau, Germany). There she performed her own and other new compositions for cymbal in concerts.

Katerina Zlatníková was a member of the Esslingen Artists' Guild . In 1994 she was awarded the Johann Wenzel Stamitz Prize for her life's work there.
