Sepp Vees (born November 11, 1908 in Gundershofen ( Schelklingen ), † December 1, 1989 in Flacht ( Weissach )) was a German artist.

He was one of the expressive realism painters and was a founding member of the Stuttgart New Secession . Vees had lived in Flacht, a small town in Baden-Württemberg , since 1933 . He defined himself as an expressive painter with the colors of Paul Cézanne and the spontaneity of Max Slevogt , Lovis Corinth and Max Liebermann . In addition, Sepp Vees created numerous concrete glass windows, lead-glazed windows, mosaics and sgraffitos on public buildings and churches.

  • 1933: Branch in Flacht.
  • 1939: Because of his pacifist attitude, Vees was transferred to Russia as a punishment.
  • 1939–1945: Deployment in Russia.
  • After 1945: Independent painter. He undertook numerous study trips to Italy, Holland, Belgium, France (especially to Brittany), Austria, England, Turkey and Tunisia.
  • 1952: Member of the Free Group Stuttgart.
  • 1958: Founding member of the Sindelfingen Secession .
  • 1989: Died in Flacht.

Works

40 pictures from his estate were donated to the Weissach community in 1995 . You can see them in the Sepp Vees gallery in the old school building in Flacht since 2000 . In 2008 Sepp Vees would have been 100 years old. Two exhibitions (memorial and sales exhibition) took place on this occasion.
