Robert Breyer

Robert Breyer (born June 19, 1866 in Stuttgart , † February 26, 1941 in Bensheim- Auerbach ) was a German painter and draftsman .

Breyer studied at the Munich Polytechnic (now the Technical University of Munich ) and took drawing lessons from Paul Nauen in 1887/1888 . He was placed in the academy in 1888 by Hermann Tafel. There he came to Wilhelm von Diez's painting class where a friendship began with Max Slevogt , with whom he traveled to Italy (Capri) in 1890. In 1892 he worked for Wilhelm Trübner in Seeon . Breyer was in Munich until 1900. Then from 1901 to 1913 in Berlin. In 1913 he bought a country house in Bensheim-Auerbach. In 1914 he went to the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart where he directed a painting class until 1933. His master students were among othersGustav Schopf and Immanuel Knayer .
