Serafín Aedo Renieblas (born November 11, 1908 in Barakaldo , † October 15, 1988 in Mexico City ) was a Spanish football player on the position of defender .

Life

Spain

The native Basque began playing football in the youth departments of his home and district club Unión Sport de San Vicente , where he made the leap to the first team in 1930, which played in a lower division at regional level. In 1931 he moved to the more successful neighboring club FC Barakaldo and thus made the sporting leap into the Tercera División . After some time, higher-class clubs became aware of his talent and in 1933 he signed a contract with the first division club Betis Sevilla , with whom he won the Spanish championship in the 1934/35 season.

In the same season he also made the leap to the Spanish national football team , for which he completed four international matches.

Basque national team

When the Spanish Civil War broke out in 1936 , football in Spain came to a standstill and Aedo joined the Basque national team , which made a trip around the world in 1937 and completed the same in Mexico , where in the 1938/39 season they worked under the name Euzkadi on the Mexican team League participated.

Real Club España

When the Basque side withdrew from Mexico in 1939, their players dispersed in different directions: some went back to Spain, others went to Argentina or stayed in the Aztec land . Aedo was one of the latter and was hired by Mexico City- based Real Club España , with whom he won the Mexican championship three times , the Supercup twice and the Copa México once . With a brief interruption in the early 1940s when he completed a few games for the Argentine record champions River Plate , he played for ten years for the Mexican Españistas , in whose ranks he ended his active career in 1949.
