Serafín Martínez
Serafín Martínez Acevedo (born February 14, 1984 in O Rosal ) is a former Spanish cyclist .
Serafín Martínez finished in 2006 at the national U23 championship in third place in the road race behind the winner José David Aguilera . In 2007 he became a professional with the Spanish Professional Continental Team Karpin Galicia .
In autumn 2007 he started at the Vuelta a España , for which his team received a wildcard. On the first stage he led the race as an outlier for a long time and thus achieved the lead in the mountain classification , which he was able to defend on the next nine stages. However, he could not finish the tour and retired after the 13th stage.
He contested the Vuelta a España three more times and was able to finish the race each time. In 2009 he was honored as the most combative driver. When he last participated in 2010 , he finished second in the mountain classification.
After the 2010 season he ended his career.
