Seraphim is a four-piece indie rock and pop band from the Linz area , Austria, founded in 2006 .
history
Gregor Ollmann, Ronald Gaisbauer, Christoph Müller and Thomas Berger founded Seraphim in the summer of 2006 from various preliminary projects. After a short period of familiarization, the first joint concerts were played in the winter of 2007 and the first songs were recorded in the Linz hood .
In the same year Seraphim immediately qualified for the final at the Local Heroes Band Contest in the Vienna Arena . This opened some doors and the band got more live performances. In 2008 they recorded the second EP in the Seppdember Studios together with René Mühlberger from Velojet . In the summer of 2009, Johannes Cap's third EP Analogue Sessions was recorded on an analogue tape machine, but this only contains two tracks. The songs from this EP made it to different samplers in the following years and were also played by various smaller radio stations in Austria.
In 2010 the members decided to record a debut album, which was only released in 2013 on their own label Novapol Records. The title A Light That Never Goes Out references a song by the Smiths . For the two singles Dancer in the Dark and Argonauts two videos were produced and published on Youtube. The album also brought the band concerts in well-known clubs and festivals in Austria.
The album received basically very good reviews, but the extensive and long work on it also led to a break in the band structure. In 2013 it was decided to change the team and Christoph Müller left the band. Alexander Kaiser then replaced him on bass. In spring 2016 Seraphim released the first EP Debris (Novapol Records) with a new line-up. The first single Ilvy came into the rotation of Radio FM4 and took second place in the Austrian Indie Charts.
