Sergi López Segú (born October 6, 1967 in Granollers , † November 4, 2006 ibid), also known as Sergi , was a Spanish football player .

His brother Gerard is also a soccer player.

Career

Sergi has played for FC Barcelona since he was a teenager . He made his professional debut on January 31, 1988 in a 1-1 draw against UD Las Palmas . With Barcelona he became Spanish champions in 1991, won the Spanish Cup in 1988 and 1990 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1989 . In 1991 he moved to RCD Mallorca . From 1992 to 1995 he was active for Real Saragossa , where he again won the Spanish Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup. In 1995 he had to hang up his football boots at the age of only 27. Sergi played a total of 71 first division appearances.

After his football career, Sergi moved to Argentina, where he married and his wife gave birth to his son. The marriage later broke up and, in connection with his early retirement, Sergi became depressed . On November 4, 2006 ended Sergi his life itself , by throwing himself in Granollers near Barcelona before a train.
