Serra Verde Express is a company based in Curitiba , the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná . In 1996, as part of the privatization of the state-owned Brazilian railway company Rede Ferroviária Federal Sociedade Anônima ( RFFSA ), the company began taking over the concession for the line from Curitiba to Paranaguá with the operation of passenger transport and the tourist train known as the "Serra Verde Express" .

The company now operates other tourist trains on various routes in three federal states, and the train on the route from Curitiba to Paranaguá, which has since been renamed "Trem da Serra do Mar", is the second largest tourist attraction in Paraná after the Iguaçu waterfalls and transports around 150,000 passengers.
