Cascavel (officially Município de Cascavel , German rattlesnake ) is a city in the Brazilian state of Paraná . It has 316,226 inhabitants (as of 2016), called cascavalense , and an area of ​​2101 km².

Cascavel lies on a plateau 781 meters above sea level. It is located 504 kilometers west of Curitiba , the capital of the state, 605 kilometers west of the Paranaguá seaport and 140 kilometers from the Paraguay - Argentina - Brazil border triangle.

Settlement of today's urban area began in 1928. The city was founded on December 14, 1952.

economy

Cascavel is responsible for 26% of total grain production in the state of Paraná. Basically, soybeans, wheat, corn, rice, cotton and beans are grown. Poultry, pigs and beef cattle also come from Cascavel.

The gross domestic product of the city is earned to 5.95% by livestock to 16.63% by industry and to 77.42% in services.

The main industries are food processing, chemicals, metal processing and beverage production.
