Leandro Augusto (born August 18, 1977 in Cascavel , Paraná ) is a naturalized Mexican football player with Brazilian and Polish roots, whose core position is in midfield .

Life

society

After various positions in his home country Brazil, where he was under contract with Criciúma , Internacional , Botafogo and Santa Cruz between 1995 and 2000 , Leandro came to Mexico in the summer of 2000.

There he first played one season (2000/01) for Club León before he was under contract with the university club Club Universidad Nacional for the next ten years (2001 to 2011) .

With him he was Mexican champion four times : in the Clausura 2004 , the Apertura 2004 , the Clausura 2009 and the Clausura 2011 .

Since the 2011/12 season he has been playing for the then first division club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente , with whom he won his fifth Mexican championship title in the Apertura 2012 .

National team

In 2008 and 2009, the naturalized Mexican played six international appearances in which he scored one goal. He made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on August 20, 2008 in a World Cup qualifier against Honduras, which was won 2-1. His last international match on April 1, 2009 also took place as part of the World Cup qualification and against the same opponent, but this time he lost 3-1. His only international goal he scored in a friendly on March 11, 2009 against Bolivia, which was won 5-1.
