Sesfontein
Sesfontein ( Six Sources , nama ǃNaniǀaus ) is a settlement and center of the constituency of the same name in the Kunene region in northwestern Namibia . Sesfontein is not far from the Hoanib - around 130 kilometers south of Opuwo and 200 kilometers northwest of Khorixas in the transition between Damaraland and Kaokoveld .
Fort Sesfontein was built in 1896 by the government of what was then German South West Africa as a control base against rinderpest , poaching and arms smuggling . The fort is a national monument and is now used as a luxurious lodge with a campsite, for safaris and the tourist development of the surrounding area (the African rock engravings of Sosos are also worth seeing).
