The Sessrumnir Valley is a high-lying and largely ice-free valley in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Asgard Range , it is east of Mount Freya .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee took up a suggestion by Graeme Geoffrey Carré Claridge (* 1931) of the New Zealand Soil Bureau of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research when it was named in 1982 . It is named after Sessrumnir , seat of the goddess Freya from Nordic mythology .
