Seti-schemai

Seti-schemai is the ancient Egyptian name of a resin or oil . This substance has already been documented in the early days of Egypt . From which plant Seti-schemai was obtained has not yet been clarified.

Seti-Shemai probably came to Egypt through trade. Corresponding mentions come from inscriptions , for example from a stele from Helwan ( 2nd dynasty ) and from the grave of the high official Hesire ( 3rd dynasty ).

In this context, Kathryn A. Bard refers to the scent of oils or resins that could be detected in the graves during archaeological campaigns .
