Severino Rigoni (born October 3, 1914 in Gallio , † December 14, 1992 in Padua ) was an Italian cyclist and cycling trainer.
Athletic career
In 1935 Severino Rigoni had his first great success when he became Italian champion in the sprint of amateurs . The following year he started in the team pursuit at the Olympic Games and won silver with Bianco Bianchi , Mario Gentili and Armando Latini . That year he became the father of a son who was named Olimpio .
Then Rigoni became a professional and was on the podium several times in the following years until 1945 at Italian sprint championships, but could not win another championship title.
From 1949 - Rigoni was now 35 years old - he started in a total of 35 six-day races . In 21 races he drove together with Ferdinando Terruzzi . In 1949 the two drivers won the six-day races in Berlin and New York together . In Berlin he played himself in the six-day film To a Nose Length . With Bruno Sivilotti , he won the six-day race in Rio de Janeiro in 1956 and that of São Paulo in 1957 . He then ended his active cycling career at the age of 42.
After the sport
Silvio Rigoni remained connected to cycling after the end of his career, for example as a trainer at the Società Ciclisti Padovani in the Velodromo Giovanni Monti , where he looked after the later Olympic champion Silvio Martinello , among others . His son Olimpio later continued the family's cycling activities.
