Sexual denunciation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term sexual denunciation comes from the Hamburg educationalist Friedrich Koch , who in 1986 drew attention to the system of sexual defamation in political disputes with his book of the same name. The book and the term were widely discussed and formed the basis for a major request from the Greens to the federal government and a plenary debate in the German Bundestag . The term quickly found its way into the relevant disputes.

meaning

"Sexual denunciation" occurs when people are defamed in the area of sexuality . It can occur in all areas of everyday life, in school, at work, in leisure time, etc. In our society, homosexuality is undoubtedly the “classic” form of sexual stigmatization . It is often learned at an early age. Terms such as " gay ", "fagot" or "homo" are common language usage in many school circles . Male homosexuality and lesbian love are, of course, only the most common etiquette of sexual denunciation. There is hardly an area of sexuality that does not offer opportunities for denunciation. In addition to homosexuality, the wide range of heterosexuality offers a variety of possibilities. Impotence or lack of sexual experience can be stigma just as much as sexual overactivity ( nymphomania , "slut" for women and homosexual men, ladyboy, "stallion" for men, "horny"), porn consumption , masturbation (onanism), sadism or masochism . Other objects of stigmatization can be "masculine" behavior in women, "feminine" attitudes in men, sex in old age or even sexual disinterest in the "prime". The spread of the rumor that someone is living in a dysfunctional partner, marital and family relationship is a particularly common form of sexual denunciation. Personal degradation is not always intended in everyday life. Often it only serves the psychological relief and stabilization of the informer. It is different in politics. In political disputes, sexual denunciation is the targeted technique used to eliminate the political opponent.

Examples

Perpetrators and victims can be found in all political groups - in the past as in the present. In the German Empire ( Harden / Eulenburg ), in the time of National Socialism ( Blomberg / Fritsch ; Ernst Röhm ) and in the recent past ( Wörner / Kießling ; Barschel affair ). Victims of sexual denunciation were among others Willy Brandt , Franz Josef Strauss , Gerhard Schröder , Helmut Kohl , Björn Engholm , Kurt Biedenkopf , Annette Schavan , Jutta von Ditfurth and parties as a whole: SPD , The Greens. Victims can also be social minorities, for example the Jews in particular were systematically sexually denounced during the Nazi era.
