Mustafa Sezgin Tanrıkulu , (born May 27, 1963 in Lice , Diyarbakır Province , Turkey ) is a Kurdish lawyer , politician and human rights activist .

family

Mustafa Sezgin Tanrıkulu was born in 1963 in Lice County, Diyarbakır Province. His father's first name is Fehmi and his mother is Sabahat. He is married to Remziye Tanrıkulu and has three children.

Professional career

He studied law at Istanbul University . He completed a master's degree in public law at the Institute of Social Sciences at Dicle University in Diyarbakır , before earning his doctorate at the Istanbul Culture University with the thesis Hukuk Devleti ve Etkili Başvuru Hakkı (Rule of Law and the Right to Effective Complaint). In 1985 he established himself as a lawyer in Diyarbakır. After serving on the board between 1986 and 2002, he was elected chairman of the Diyarbakır Bar Association. He held this position until 2008.

In 1988 Tanrıkulu played a leading role in founding the Diyarbakır branch of the Human Rights Association (IHD). He is one of the founders of the Foundation for Human Rights in Turkey (TIHV), which has existed since 1990, and was the representative of the Mission in Diyarbakır, which was established in 1998.

Political career

Tanrıkulu was elected to the party's parliament on December 18, 2010 at the CHP's 15th Ordinary Congress . He moved into the parliament ( TBMM ) in the parliamentary elections in 2011 as a member of the CHP for Istanbul and then became vice-chairman of the CHP. He was accused of being a “ CIA agent ” by a predecessor in that post, Uşak CHP MP Dilek Akagün Yılmaz , which resulted in Yılmaz being warned by the party's disciplinary committee.
