Sforzato di Valtellina

The Sforzato di Valtellina or Sfursat di Valtellina is a dry Italian red wine that is produced in Valtellina in the province of Sondrio ( Lombardy region ). Since 1968 it has had the status of a “controlled designation of origin ” ( DOC ). In 2003 the wine received the status of a “controlled and guaranteed designation of origin” ( DOCG ), which was last modified on March 7, 2014.

Growing area

The growing area is orographically to the right of the Adda river, in the municipalities of Ardenno and Tirano and in Piateda and Ponte in Valtellina .

generation

The wine is mainly (90-100%) made from the Nebbiolo grape variety , which is also often called "Chiavennasca" on site. 0–10% may come from other red grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in Lombardy. After the harvest, the grapes are first dried on straw mats and then pressed.
