Professional career

Kimura lost his professional debut on April 22, 2013 against his compatriot Shosuke Ōji, who also made his debut in this fight, by classic knockout in the 1st round.

In late September 2014, Kimura fought Akira Kokubo and achieved only one draw. His subsequent fight against Isao Aoyama, which took place in February of the following year, brought the same result.

On November 23, 2016, Kimura competed against his hitherto undefeated compatriot Masahiro Sakamoto for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific title and won over 12 rounds by majority decision.

Kimura knocked out Wisitsak Saiwaew from Thailand in May 2017 in an 8-round battle in the 2nd round

At the end of July of the same year, Kimura competed against the 36-year-old Chinese two-time Olympic and three-time amateur world champion Zhou Shiming . Shiming held the WBO world title, which was also at stake. Kimura won this fight in round 11 by technical knockout and thus captured that belt.
