Shūji Atsuta

Shūji Atsuta ( Japanese 熱 田 修 二 , Atsuta Shūji ; born December 2, 1951 in Izumo ) is a Japanese jazz trumpeter .

Shûji Atsuta worked around 1970 with Stomu Yamashta and Masahiko Satō , on whose album Metempsychosis he participated. He also belonged to Nobuo Hara and His Sharps & Flats. In the following years he played in Toshiyuki Miyama's big band The New Herd , which can be heard on the albums Tsuchi no Me - Nihon Densetsu no Naka no Shijō ( 土 の 音 ~ 日本 伝 説 の 中 の 詩情 ~ ; 1973) and Jazz Orchestra '73 . With his quintet, consisting of Tatsuya Takahashi (tenor saxophone), Toshihiko Ogawa (piano), Eiji Nonaka (double bass) and Masahiko Ozu or Nobuhiko Yamashita (drums), he recorded the live album Blues on My Mind in 1995 and 1999 . With the guitarist Yoshiaki Miyanoue , he presented the joint album Sweet & Lovely , which was created in 2000 and on which Yuzo Yamaguchi (bass) and Shinnosuke Takahashi (drums) also participated.
