Rossiere "Shadow" Wilson (* 25. September 1919 in Yonkers , NY ; † 11. July 1959 in New York ) was an American jazz - drummer , the drummer big band 1950 both as well as in small groups (in the Years) made a name.

Wilson started in Lucky Millinder's big band in 1939 and then worked in many big big bands of the swing era: Benny Carter , Tiny Bradshaw (1940), Lionel Hampton 1940/1941, Earl Hines 1941 to 1943, Count Basie (1944 to 1946 and 1948 ) and Woody Herman in 1949. After that he mainly worked in smaller combos a. a. with Illinois Jacquet , Erroll Garner and Thelonious Monk (whose preferred drummer he was in the words of Thelonious Monk Jr.), Sonny Stitt , Lee Konitz and in the backing band of Ella Fitzgerald . He also recorded with Joe Newman , Una Mae Carlisle and Phil Woods .

Tom Lord recorded 146 recording sessions in his discography between 1938 and 1964 (first with Lucky Millinder).
