Shagamu is a city in the Nigerian state of Ogun and is located in the southwest of Nigeria. According to an estimate from 2007, it has 228,382 inhabitants.

Lime mining and the trade in agricultural products such as cocoa and cola nuts are important for Shagamu's economy . The city was founded in the 19th century and controlled the trade routes between the port cities in the Niger Delta and the Yorubaland until it fell under British rule at the end of the 19th century. Especially since the 1950s, Shagamu's location between Ibadan and Lagos has led to strong growth.

Shagamu and its surroundings form one of the 20 Local Government Areas (LGA) of the state of Ogun with an area of 613.92 km². In the penultimate census in 1991, the LGA had 155,726 inhabitants and thus a population density of 254 inhabitants per km². In the city itself there were 127,513 inhabitants.
