Sharolta Louisa Nonen (born December 30, 1977 in Vancouver ) is a former Canadian soccer player and coach.

Career

Player

In early 2001, Nonen was committed to the Atlanta Beat franchise in the college draft for the newly founded WUSA . With Atlanta she reached the championship finals in 2001 and 2003 , which were lost. From 2005 to 2007 she played for the Danish first division club Fortuna Hjørring , with whom she won the Danish Cup competition in 2006. After that, Nonen returned to the United States and was active as a player-coach for the Atlanta Silverbacks in the USL W-League for two years . After a short stint at Indiana FC , also competing in the W-League , she switched to the Los Angeles Sol franchise in the newly founded WPS in 2009 . There she finished the regular season with her team as first-placed team and won the WPS Shield . The championship final against Sky Blue FC , however, was lost 0-1. For the 2010 season she returned to the Atlanta Beat and then ended her career as a player.

National team

Nonen made his debut on June 3, 1999 under national coach Even Pellerud in the Canadian national team and took part with this in the 1999 and 2003 World Championships . By July 2006, she completed 63 internationals and scored one international goal. Notably, Nonen has been on the Canadian starting line-up for all of their internationals.

Nonen worked in the coaching staff at Georgia Gwinnett College until 2014 , where she also briefly stepped in as an interim coach. In 2015 she moved to East Carolina University as an assistant trainer and worked there for two years. In early 2017, she took over the position of head coach of the women's football department at Florida International University .
