Sheku Kanneh-Mason (* 1999 ) is a British cellist .

Life

Kanneh-Mason started playing the cello at the age of six . At the age of nine he won a scholarship to the Junior Academy of the Royal Academy of Music .

In 2015, he and his siblings took part in the television show Britain's Got Talent as The Kanneh-Masons . Sheku studies with Hannah Roberts at the Royal Academy of Music in London .

He won the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in May 2016 . Since November 2016 he has a contract with Decca Records .

On May 19, 2018, he played at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle .

In October 2018, Kanneh-Mason was awarded the Opus Klassik as Young Artist of the Year (cello) .
