Sheldon Taylor Rankin (* 2. April 1994 in Covington , Georgia ) is an American American football poker players. He plays with the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL) on the position of defensive tackle .

college

Rankins attended the University of Louisville and played for their team, the Cardinals, successfully college football from 2012 to 2015 , where he could not only set 133 tackles , but also get 18.0 sacks and a touchdown .

NFL

When NFL Draft in 2016 he was 12th in the first round as a whole by the New Orleans Saints selected and received a four-year contract 12.8 million US dollars . A fibula fracture, which he sustained during preparation, required an operation, which is why he was only able to play in nine games in his rookie season.
In 2017 he entered all games as a starter . Rankins made his first interception against the Buffalo Bills .
Rankins was able to improve again in 2018, he again started as a starter in all games of the regular season and got 8.0 sacks. In the divisional play-off game against the Philadelphia Eagles , however, he pulled a torn Achilles tendon , which made an immediate operation necessary, whereby the season was over for him.
In 2019 Rankins was able to play ten games before he had to be put on the injured reserve list with an ankle injury .
