Shelly Komalam Selvaretnam (born April 23, 1988 ) is a Malaysian sprinter .

Athletic career

Shelly Komalam first appeared in 2013, when she was disqualified in the 100-meter run in the finals at the Asian Championships in Pune and eliminated over 200 meters with 24.82 s in the lead. Then she won the bronze medal over 100 meters at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang in 12.11 seconds behind the Iranian Maryam Toosi and Nimet Karakuş from Turkey. In the 200-meter run , she won the silver medal behind Toosi in 25.16 s. She then reached seventh place over 200 meters at the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw in 24.95 s and was eliminated over 100 meters with 12.31 s in the lead. Two years later, she failed at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore with 12.08 s and 24.71 s over both distances in the preliminary round, but won the bronze medal behind the Malaysian 4 x 100 meter relay in 45.41 s Teams from Thailand and Vietnam.

In 2017 she took part again in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar , but was eliminated there over 200 meters with 24.53 s in the first round. Two years later she was eighth over 200 meters at the Southeast Asian Games in Capas in 25.05 s and reached fourth place in the relay in 45.25 s.

In 2012, Komalam was the Malaysian champion in the 100 and 200 meter run and in 2018 in the 4 x 100 meter relay.
