Sherman Landers
Sherman Landers ( Sherman George Landers; born March 24, 1898 in Oregon , Illinois , † May 15, 1994 in Springfield , Delaware County , Pennsylvania ) was an American triple jumper , pole vaulter , sprinter and long jumper .
At the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920, he was fifth in the triple jump .
In 1916 he was US champion in the pole vault and in 1919 and 1920 in the triple jump. In 1918 he was US indoor champion over 300 yards . Starting for the University of Pennsylvania , he became IC4A champion in the long jump in 1920 . With the team of the University of Pennsylvania he set world records in Philadelphia on June 7, 1919 in the 4-by-110-yard relay (42 4/5 s) and in the 4-by-220-yard relay (1: 27 4/5 min).
