Shifra Sagy

Shifra Sagy ( Hebrew שפרה שגיא, born July 24, 1945 ) is an Israeli psychologist. She is a professor emeritus at Ben Gurion University in the Negev .

education

From 1969 to 1972 Sagy did her bachelor's degrees in psychology and sociology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Haifa . From 1981 to 1985 she studied educational psychology at Ben Gurion University in the Negev . Her master's thesis is entitled "Adolescents' reactions to a stress situation: Before and after evacuation of the Sinai settlements". Also at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, after completing her studies from 1987 to 1990, she obtained her academic degree as a Doctor of Philosophy . The dissertation entitled "The family sense of coherence and adjustment to stressors: The retirement transition" was supervised by Aaron Antonovsky and N. Milgram.

Shifra Sagy did her military service in the Israel Defense Forces from 1963 to 1965 . From 1971 to 1975 she worked as a psychological advisor to the Ministry of Welfare in Haifa . From 1976 to 1978 she worked at a school in Kirjat Gat and from 1978 to 1996 at a children's clinic as an educational psychologist. From 1979 to 1981 she was a teacher at the Open University of Israel . From 1990 to 1992 she worked as a psychological consultant for the organization Na'amat in Beersheba .

From 1991, Shifra Sagy held various positions at Ben Gurion University in the Negev. In 2002 she became an assistant professor and in 2010 a professor . In 2014 she retired .

Publications

Shifra Sagy has published numerous articles, some in collaboration with Aaron Antonovsky , in scientific journals and books.

Private

Shifra Sagy is married and has two children and three grandchildren.
