Shirley Ann Richards

Ann Richards (born December 20, 1917 in Sydney , Australia , † August 24, 2006 in Torrance , California , United States ) was an Australian actress.

Life

Ann Richards began her career as an actress in Australian film productions and appeared in 1938 in Ken G. Hall's Dad and Dave Come to Town . In 1942 she finally went to Hollywood , where she signed a contract with MGM . That same year she played a supporting role in Mervyn LeRoy's film drama Found Years ( Random Harvest ) alongside Ronald Colman and Greer Garson . Later she was starring in William Dieterle's film Love Letters ( Love Letters , 1945) take over, but when Jennifer Jones was interested in the project, they got the lead role, and Richards was assigned a supporting role again. She then played a leading role alongside Randolph Scott in the 1946 western Land of the Bandits . In 1948 she was seen in what is perhaps her best-known role in Anatole Litvak's crime film You're Still Living 105 Minutes ( Sorry, Wrong Number ) alongside Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster . Four years later, she gave up her acting career.

Richards was married twice and had three children. She died in Torrance , California in 2006 at the age of 88 .
