As a musician were Bartholomews band with pianist Allen Toussaint , bassist Frank Fields, Earl Palmer on drums, and saxophonist Lee Allen , Alvin Tyler and Herb Hardesty involved in the recording.

In the mid-1950s they changed their musical style. The rock 'n' roll title Let the Good Times Roll , written by Leonard Lee, ranked 20th on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1956 . The next single, I Feel Good , also made it into the top 40 of the pop singles chart. In 1962, the duo separated. Leonard Lee then recorded a few unsuccessful solo records.

The follow-up singles Disco Shirley and Cry Cry Cry were far less successful, and Shirley Goodman retired from the music business a little later.
