- Showbiz Origin of Symmetry 2001

Showbiz is the first studio album by the British rock band Muse . With the album released in 1999, Muse managed to draw attention to itself. The internationally known single Muscle Museum is included on this album.

Despite two previously successfully released EPs , they did not find a record company in the UK . The band was signed by the US company Maverick Records at the end of 1998 . John Leckie , who had worked with Radiohead on The Bends , was hired to produce the album . Not least because of this, the album is said to have had a strong influence from Radiohead and Muse often had to be compared with them. The album is largely shaped by the band's aggressive style. Bellamy's often "fearful voice, esoteric lyrics and incisive breaks in sound dynamics" refer to the hard times in Teignmouth when the band wanted to establish themselves. After the album was released, the band appeared in the opening act for bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers or the Foo Fighters . At these concerts in the USA the band played in front of up to 20,000 spectators. With appearances at European festivals, but also concerts in Japan and Australia, the group gained a considerable fan base.
