The Shuibuya Dam ( Chinese 水 布 垭 水利 , Pinyin Shuǐbùyà Shuĭlì ) is a dam on the Qing Jiang in China . The barrier structure is designed as a CFR dam , a rubble dam with a concrete surface on the water side .
The dam has a hydroelectric power station that generates electricity with four turbines . The installed capacity is 1.6 gigawatts .
The government approved the project in January 2000. Construction began in 2002 and was completed in 2008.
