Shyheim "Shy" Devonte Tuttle (born October 20, 1995 in Winston-Salem , North Carolina ) is an American American football player. He plays with the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL) on the position of defensive tackle .

college

Tuttle showed athletic talent early on and performed well in high school in athletics , basketball, and soccer . He attended the University of Tennessee and successfully played college football for their team, the Volunteers . In the four seasons between 2015 and 2018, repeatedly plagued by injuries, he was able to play 30 games, not only able to set 79 tackles , but also get 1.0 sack , one interception and two pass defenses.

NFL

Tuttle was not included in the 2019 NFL Draft , but was subsequently signed up as a free agent by the New Orleans Saints . Through the performances shown during the preparation, he was able to win a place in the 53-man squad.

In his rookie season he was used in all 16 games, once even as a starter and was on the field in 32% of all defensive plays.
He became the favorite of Saints fans in the game against arch-rivals Atlanta Falcons . He not only managed an interception, he was also able to bring down the generic quarterback Matt Ryan , albeit with illegal support from Cameron Jordan , with a stiff arm in a most spectacular way.
